Hosting a WebSite on a Disposable Vape

The chip is marked PUYA C642F15, which wasn’t very helpful. I was pretty sure it was a PY32F002A, but after poking around with pyOCD, I noticed that the flash was 24k and we have 3k of RAM. The extra flash meant that it was more likely a PY32F002B, which is actually a very different chip.1

So here are the specs of a microcontroller so bad, it’s basically disposable:

24MHz Coretex M0+
24KiB of Flash Storage
3KiB of Static RAM
a few peripherals, none of which we will use.

You may look at those specs and think that it’s not much to work with. I don’t blame you, a 10y old phone can barely load google, and this is about 100x slower. I on the other hand see a blazingly fast web server.

El video del día - The Art of Code, Dylan Beattie, NDC London 2020

¡No!

The knights who say NI

With currently happening corporate GenAI frenzy, search engines have diminished in value for queries which are a bit beyond the general or mainstream content. I tried today looking up "DB CDC solutions" - got a bunch of links with generated irrelevant bullshit preceding self-advertisement of the page owning startup.

Now, looks like we have to rely on the old way of mouth-to-ear recommendations to note down authors of useful, insightful or delightful content. GenAI is quite rarely capable of delightful one, to my experience.

So in this blog I am going to start a tag, to complement #bookmarks with mark of brain-crafted content. Let it be #natural-intelligence

A cognitive bias is an amusing thing to observe - when struggling with the problem for a while, having the documentation in front of your eyes, with the simple explanation given in plain English - you suddenly get it and see that all the complexity was just your own overthinking induction. Not quite an aha-moment you would look for, but still there is fun in it.

Reviewing Mr. Robot - characters touch

Reviewing Mr. Robot, and it enchants me how characters have rhyming traits around common brilliance. Personages driving the epic are all with alternated minds, of alterations which are considered in society to be sickness or damaged soul, but along with that those minds are deep and wit and inspiring powerful. Eliot, White Rose, Angela - ok, everyone gets it about each of them, they are the bedrocks of the story dynamics. Mr. Robot - interesting about him is that he is a ground for the color of emotion. He isn't damaged, or strange, just extremely intelligent - but he is the thread somehow keeping it all together and he is a hook.  Darlene - look how she seconds Mr. Robot's being caring and smart, but also beautiful and soft. She gives the story soft notes which are so comforting to ingest. Leo - very interesting one. He is not pulling sophisticated world-conquering strategies, he's a world observer. He manages to proceed with observing even in prison, his mind equipped ...
